Profile: Because oats are high in soluble fiber, they are heart-healthy. Three grams of soluble fiber can be found in every 3/4 cup of rolled oats. In addition, rolled oats have been shown to boost immunity. Make your own granola bars using oats, or have a bowl of warm oatmeal with walnuts and sliced bananas for breakfast.

Details: All rolled oats can be used to make oatmeal or baked goods. These are made by dehulling plump grown oats and using a steam procedure to stabilize the oat enzymes. The flattened groat goes into a roller mill once it has been stabilized. After that, it's air dried and chilled.

Rolled oats are a natural product.

Directions for Cooking:
1 cup rolled oats, 2 cups water, and 1/4 teaspoon salt

Top of stove Bring a pot of water and salt to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes with rolled oats (depending on the consistency you desire). Occasionally stir. Cover and set aside for a few minutes after removing from the heat. Two persons are served.

Oats should be kept in a cool, dry, dark cabinet in sealed plastic or glass containers. If properly stored, oats will last a year.
