Profile: With a name like scorpion pepper you can safely assume this one has a pretty vicious sting. Often made into hot sauces and are amongst the hottest peppers in the world, these dried Scorpion Peppers are designed for those who like to play with fire.

The Scorpion Pepper used to be known as “The World's Hottest Pepper” by Guinness. (The Naga Viper chile displaced the Ghost Pepper as the reigning champ.) The gases from Scorpion Peppers can cause burning and numbness, thus chefs must wear gloves, eyewear, and masks. These peppers are no joke with over 1,500,000 Scoville units.

The name stems from the peppers' stinging sting and the way they develop twisted and bulbous before tapering abruptly into a curled point. They're bright red and mighty. Contrastingly, the flavor is flowery, resembling rose and geranium.
