Meet Empress 1908 Indigo Gin. Incorporating eight botanicals inspired by Fairmont Empress’s renowned afternoon tea service, its recipe balances the traditional citrus notes of gin with a warm herbal earthiness. Empress Indigo Gin’s breathtaking hue is derived from the infusion of butterfly pea flower, providing the perfect base for a new aesthetic of cocktail creation and enjoyment.

THE DISTILLERY

In 2016, we set out to create a gin unlike any other. Having always looked to our surroundings for inspiration, it was only natural that the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel and its renowned afternoon tea program called to us as the perfect place to spark our creativity. Our Master Distiller explored how each one of their teas played with our carefully selected botanicals, leading us on a multi-sensory journey. Finally, we settled on the extraordinary combination of Empress Signature Blend Tea and butterfly pea blossom, which was discovered in a blend called Blue Suede Shoes. In 2017, Empress 1908 Indigo Gin was born.

Simple, light and beautiful, this cooling cocktail features delicious garden herbs, refreshing cucumber and a splash of soda water.

INGREDIENTS

Empress 1908 Indigo Gin
Soda Water
Cucumber
Mint
Basil

METHOD
Muddle cucumber, basil, and mint in the bottom of a chilled rocks glass. Add ice and Empress 1908. Top with soda water. Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and basil.
