SP1053 Open Heart Claddagh Pendant w/ Green Crystals by Shanore

Description

The slender curves of this sterling silver Claddagh pendant give it a graceful appeal. Careful texture in the cuffs and crown speak to the nimble hand of ShanOre craftsmen, as well as the attention one should pay to the meaning of this traditional Irish symbol. Delicate stones in the spirit of diamonds and emeralds embellish one side of the heart, like a sash of sparkling flowers. 

The Essence of the Claddagh

The Claddagh symbol finds its most popular history in the 17th-century tale of Richard Joyce, a young man from Galway, Ireland who was kidnapped on his way to the Irish slave plantations in the West Indies to work. He was sold to a Moorish goldsmith, to whom he became an apprentice. When Joyce was finally released from captivity, he returned to Galway to find his once true love waiting for him. As a sign of his commitment to her, he gave her what is now known as the first Claddagh wedding ring. The Claddagh design gives many kinds of jewelry a precious quality these days. The hands represent friendship; the heart, love; and the crown, loyalty.
