Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine 750mg 60 Capsules

Until Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine became available all glucosamines were sourced from Chitin, a major component of shellfish. Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine is a unique new form of Glucosamine hydrochloride. Sourced from fermented corn it is 100% free from shellfish or animal ingredients. Melrose Plant Sourced Glucosamine is also Gluten Free, Halal and Kosher.

There are two major forms of Glucosamine, the hydrochloride form and the sulphate form. There is a discussion over which of the two glucosamine salts, hydrochloride or sulphate, is preferred for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Glucosamine sulphate is the form used in much of the clinical trials conducted.


Dosage:

Mix 1/2 teaspoon (1/2 teaspoon = 1500mg) of glucosamine powder with water or juice 1 to 2 times daily. Or take two capsules daily.

Overview:

Glucosamine is a compound consisting of an amino acid and a sugar molecule. It is formed by the human body as a precursor to form larger molecules called glycosaminoglycans, which are involved in the formation and repair of cartilage. Glucosamine is found in high concentrations in cartilage and other connective tissues. As we age, the body's own production of glucosamine is diminished; this causes joint cartilage to loose its water holding capacity.

Cartilage is responsible for providing the "shock absorption" at the end of bones. Glucosamine Melrose Plant Sourced is the loss of this cushioning effect due to the loss of glycosaminoglycans that result in pain and loss of range of motion. Osteoarthritis, often known as "wear and tear arthritis" is the commonest type of arthritis. This degenerative disease affects the middle - aged and elderly, and is characterised by the breakdown of cartilage.

Supplementing the body's natural glycosamine production has been proven in clinical trials to repair and rebuild worn or damaged cartilage and reduce pain and return mobility.
