Mythology Best Friend Bourbon is a blend of a 15 year Kentucky Bourbon, and two high-rye bourbons aged 2 to 5 years. Wildflower honey and warm cornbread on the nose gives way to honeycomb upfront on the palate that transitions to gentle cinnamon and toasted almonds. The 15-year Bourbon provides for a lasting rich vanilla, pipe tobacco and black currant on the finish.

On a ski trip in the Alaskan backcountry, three close friends capped off each day drinking whiskey and cocktails at a local craft distillery while meeting new friends and sharing stories about their wild adventure.

Getting off a helicopter surrounded by sheer drop-offs with one steep & deep line down makes for a thrilling story. Sharing stories of those runs and drinking whiskey went hand-in-hand each night, and the duality of enjoying whiskey with friends while sharing experiences created the inspiration to start Mythology Distillery.


Founded by three Colorado natives that seek out experiences through travel and adventure, we love to share and hear stories from others. Our philosophy is that we each form our own Mythology through travel, connecting with others and our experiences. It’s based on this that we named the distillery Mythology.

Inspired by the Alaska trip, Scott Yeates returned with a passion to start Mythology Distillery as a brand that invokes conversation and brings community together. Leveraging years of experience that our production team gained from other successful distilleries, our team has developed a portfolio of products that have won more than 50 awards in 2 years, including best in class, double golds and gold medals.

Started as a passion and brought to reality by hard work we have built Mythology, named Colorado’s Top Distillery consecutively and our spirits have won more than 50 domestic and international awards.

Chocolate Orange Old Fashioned

This fall treat is a riff on the Old Fashioned, featuring our Best Friend Bourbon & chocolate simple syrup. It makes for the perfect after dinner cocktail. Think Terry’s Chocolate Oranges, but boozy!

Follow the recipe below:

2 oz Best Friend Bourbon

1/4 oz chocolate simple syrup *

2 dashes orange bitters

1 dash Angostura bitters.

Stir ingredients with ice and pour over a big cube in a rocks glass. Garnish with a candied orange & enjoy!

*Chocolate Simple Syrup

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup water

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

First, boil water, then stir in sugar and dissolve. Turn to medium heat and stir in cocoa powder. Remove from heat and add vanilla & salt. Allow mixture to cool slightly before transferring to a container.
