Natura Bona Propylene Glycol USP-Food Grade 8 oz., BPA Free PET Bottle. Propylene Glycol is an organic compound made by reaction of propylene oxide with water, viscous colorless liquid which is nearly odorless with a faint sweet taste. Uses of Propylene Glycol are; Fragrance, Cosmetics and Personal Care, Food and Flavorings, Pet Food, Animal Feed and more. Propylene glycol is safe to use in a wide range of consumer products, including food, animal feed, beauty and pharmaceuticals, as well as industrial applications. It's frequently used as a stabilizer and to keep food moist. The FDA deems Propylene Glycol safe for human consumption.
Propylene glycol is miscible with water and many organic solvents and will dissolve several resins, dyes and essential oils. In cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, propylene glycol acts as a softening agent, ointment base, humectant and emollient. Many cosmetic formulations using lemon or other natural fruit juices contain propylene glycol as an inhibitor of mold growth.
Storage: Propylene Glycol is noncorrosive and nontoxic; it has a low vapor pressure and high flash point. It should be stored in a cool, dry, place.
